What data is sent to and processed by any external service?
The app uses Sentry.io for crash reporting and performance monitoring. When a crash or error occurs, technical data about the error and your system configuration (such as macOS version, app version, and device model) is sent to Sentry. This data helps us identify and fix issues quickly. No personal information is collected through this process.
The app also uses Mixpanel for analytics and usage insights. Mixpanel collects anonymous usage data such as which features are used, how often the app is opened, and basic system information (macOS version, app version, device model). This data helps us improve the app experience and understand which features are most valuable to users. Mixpanel assigns a random identifier to each installation, but no personally identifiable information is collected or transmitted. Beyond crash reporting and analytics, Remote for HEOS is a standalone, zero-configuration application and is not connecting to any other external servers. All data collected by the Application (like UPnP ip addresses and basic metadata) which is needed by Remote for HEOS to operate is stored locally on the user's Mac. Credentials for HEOS account entered in the app is stored in macOS keychain.
Data Retention
Crash reports and performance data in Sentry are automatically deleted after 30 days. Analytics data in Mixpanel is retained according to their standard data retention policy (typically 5 years for event data, but you can request deletion at any time). Support emails are retained for up to five years to ensure proper follow-up and quality of service. Local data stored on your Mac is retained until you uninstall the application.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your support communication history
- Request deletion of your analytics data from Mixpanel by contacting us
- Clear all local data by uninstalling the application
Email Support
If you email us for support or other feedback, the emails with email addresses will be retained for quality assurance purposes. The email addresses will not be used for any marketing purpose. If you want to remove your support related emails, please send this request to the support.
